Melissa B. Johnson

Ms. Johnson has experience in the areas of products liability and insurance defense and is currently engaged in a civil litigation defense practice involving medical malpractice, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, and professional negligence.  She represents medical professionals in negligence claims before the Georgia Composite State Board of Medical Examiners.  Ms. Johnson has tried numerous cases to verdict. 

Ms. Johnson was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1999.  She began her career at King & Spalding in the area of products liability litigation.  Her practice involved medical devices, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, tobacco, and asbestos.  She began working in the area of medical malpractice defense in 2002, and has worked in this area ever since.  Her medical malpractice experience includes working at the predecessor firm to Peters & Monyak and as a Litigation Specialist for Mag Mutual Insurance Company. 

Ms. Johnson received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia (B.S. in psychology with high distinction, 1996), and earned her law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law (J.D. 1999).  While at Vanderbilt, she was a member of the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law (Associate Editor) and was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity.  Ms. Johnson is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association; the Georgia Bar Association; and the American Bar Association.
